Loving Mr Spock Reviews

A searingly honest account of the difficulties faced when people who are differently wired come together. -- National Autistic Society

In this book Barbara Jacobs has written a unique and very personal account of her life and her love for Danny. She has given the reader a hugely entertaining, witty and deeply emotional insight into the ups and downs of life with a partner who has Asperger's syndrome. Anyone who is in this position will be able to instantly identify and totally sympathise with, the day to day experiences she details.

Barbara takes us on a roller coaster ride of emotion, bravely exposing her hurt, confusion, and times her loneliness, alongside the joys, achievements, and good days. Her underpinning hopes and aspirations for her relationship and her struggle to comprehend the meaning and the reasons behind all that frustrates her efforts to have a meaningful and reciprocal adult relationship with the man she loves, runs throughout the book. Her joy in finding the reason for his behaviour and `odd' ways are soon replaced with the frustrations of his condition and his inability to see how his behaviour affects her.

-- GAP Good Autism Practice
It is a must for all those with an autism spectrum disorder in their midst. -- Christopher Gillberg, Adviser to the World Health Organization
With humour, optimism and honesty, this insightful handbook provides practical help, including expert opinion, AS facts and figures, guidelines on diagnosis, 'diagnostic' questionnaires and advice on relationships, employment and handling difficult times. -- Human Givens Magazine
