Summary
The Marquis of Mounteagle, profoundly hurt when he learns that the girl he loves is hoping to marry another man for his greater title, asks his friend, Lord Charles Carrington, if it is possible that he will ever be loved as himself, an ordinary man. Lord Charles thinks it most unlikely.
