From March 1872 to January 1978. Purple cloth with gilt lettering to front board and spine. Ex-Library copy, with expected inserts, stamps and pencil inscriptions. Pages are lightly tanned with mild foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Former owner's ink inscription to front paste-down, with a few small nicks and grey rub marks along text block edge. Retail label on rear paste-down. Occasional faint thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with mild bumping and scuffing to corners, and slight rubbing to surfaces. Heavy tanning to spine and edges, with visible crushing to spine ends. Boards are subtly bowed. Minor fraying and library label to spine. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.
