Sonja Linden is an award-winning playwright whose plays have been produced on radio, on the London stage, and in regional theatres across the UK and the United States. Crocodile Seeking Refuge is the second play inspired by Sonja's work with asylum seekers and refugees during her writing residency at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims. Her concern to make these voices public led to her founding of iceandfire theatre company dedicated to telling real-life stories of conflict and displacement. The company was launched in 2003 with the London premiere of her first play for the company: I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given to Me by a Young Lady from Rwanda, (Metro and Time Out Critics' Choice). The play subsequently went on national tour in the UK and Ireland and has had numerous highly acclaimed productions in the USA , where it was nominated for best playwright in the 2007 NAACP awards. Crocodile Seeking Refuge premiered in London in 2005, followed by a UK national tour in 2006. Sonja's documentary piece, Asylum Monologues, marked the launch of iceandfire's new national network, Actors for Refugees in 2006. Sonja's next play, Welcome to Ramallah, written in collaboration with Adah Kay, will be produced in Spring 2008 as will her second documentary piece entitled Asylum Dialogues.
