Colene and Darius escape to another reality and continue on their way, with luck, across the five modes to Darius' homeworld, Hlahatar. There he is Cyng. Colene thinks of him as King of Laughter, an echo of the love she bears him - and of Darius' ability to drain the emotion from a person.
