1940: France is falling to the German invasion. Rather than sell his work to Nazis, artist Louis Duval flees across the Channel in his tiny motor boat to offer his services to England, finding lodgings with Barbara Hillyard, a kindly and beautiful young widow. Lieutenant Commander, Alan Powell never wanted a desk job, even when his wounds in the previous war made it his only option. So, when the chance comes to assist Intelligence by sneaking boats across the Channel to gather information, he leaps at it - especially when Louis is there to establish a Resistance network in his occupied homeland.
