In this collection of essays Lawrence Freedman considers the role played by experts in the nuclear debate and the value of dispassionate strategic analysis. He argues for the need to view nuclear issues from a political rather than technological perspective. In this way we may not be able to resolve the nuclear dilemma, but we may be able to continue to live with it and without disaster.
