The subject matter has been changed to conform with new syllabuses produced by the major examining boards. The style and language have been considerably simplified to allow the book to be used with a wider ability range than is normally possible with the first edition. Questions which are used to provide support or further experience have been separated from those connected with an important principle or experimental conclusion, so as not to confuse the main issues.
