An international team of geographers and cartographers gathered and compiled vast amounts of information in order to create this atlas. Thematic maps devoted to vegetation, climate, energy and population as well as earthquakes and volcanoes are complemented by introductory texts about the origins of the universe, the structure of the solar system, as well as the origins of the Earth and its continents.
