Elgar's music epitomized for many people the times in which he lived. Thus, this pictorial record of his life is of interest and value. His biographer has accumulated here contemporary postcards, family photos and newspaper illustrations which combine to illuminate the composer's life and music. Many of the pictures are previously unknown, especially those of Elgar's childhood and youth.
