In the 1980s, De Tonnancour ended his career as a respected painter of natural history subjects to dedicate himself to photographing the creatures that have fascinated him since childhood. He has travelled the globe in search of rare insects. This book features his portraits of individuals of many species and displays the knowledge he has gathered: the ecology, behaviour, defensive strategies, anatomy and evolution of insects.
