Ian Messiter was the producer of "I.T.M.A." and "Twenty Questions", the inventor of "Just a Minute", "Many a Slip" and "The Petticoat Line" and has had a key role in dozens more shows. He worked with people such as Gilbert Harding, Gerald Hofnung and Kenneth Williams - whom he brings to life in his book. All this is balanced by recollections of his strict pre-war upbringing in Dudley, of his down-at-heels but buoyant days as a conjuror, and of the Normandy invasion. This is his autobiography.
