Summary
These are the diaries of the indomitable Countess Ranfurly whose newlywed husband was despatched in 1939 to North Africa with his valet, Whitaker. When her husband was taken prisoner, she bluffed and cajoled her way to the Middle East and stayed there, against the rules, with Whitaker as her ally.
