Based on interviews with male opera singers, this book explores the relationship betweeen each singer and some of the roles with which he is identified. The 22 artists, including Pavarotti, Domingo, Allen and Carreras, discuss their roles in detail, analyse their interpretations from both the musical and dramatic angles, and point out some of the main vocal and technical pitfalls lurking in each role.
