It is surprising to find that although individual aircraft, battles, squadrons and airmen have had their histories written, there has not been a history of the air-war told in the words of the people who lived through it. This book attempts to rectify this by tracing and interviewing people who built planes, flew or serviced them during World War II. The book is about the memories of a time when people risked their lives in the war against Germany. It covers the whole of the war, from the Battle of Britain through the various phases of conflict, to the victory of 1945.
