A reader’s guide to Colleen Hoover
Colleen Hoover (Margaret Colleen Fennell) (born December 11, 1979) was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She got her bachelor's degree in social work from Texas A&M-Commerce. She worked as a social worker and instructor before she began writing.
In January 2012, Hayes released her debut novel,
Slammed. She was inspired by a lyric, "decide what to be and go be it", from an Avett Brothers song, "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise." Because of this, she incorporated Avett Brothers lyrics throughout the story.
