French writer Isabelle Eberhardt died in 1904 at they age of 27. Like T.E. Lawrence, she had found a home for her complex, sexually ambiguous personality amongst the Arab people in the deserts of North Africa. She lived experimentally, becoming addicted to Kif (hashish) and joining a Sufi sect.
