NICK HOLDSTOCK spent three and half years in China as a Voluntary Service Overseas teacher. Since returning he has had numerous articles published in publications such as Edinburgh Review and the London Review of Books. He was awarded a Scottish Arts Council Grant to return to China in March 2010 to evaluate how the riots in Xinjiang last summer and autumn have affected people's lives.
