PAULINE BAYNES's illustrations for C. S. Lewis's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe helped turn it into a well-loved classic which, in 2000, was shortlisted for the Book of the Millennium. She won the Kate Greenaway Medal for the Dictionary of Chivalry and the Opie Caorle Prize for her Puffin Book of Nursery Rhymes. J. R. R. Tolkien chose her to illustrate Farmer Giles of Ham. She has also illustrated The Borrowers stories.
