Brian Vale is a specialist in Anglo-South American Naval history in the early nineteenth century. He is a contributor to British and Latin American journals and has been decorated by the Brazilian Government for his work. He is the author of 'Independence or Death: British Sailors and Brazilian Independence 1822-5'; 'A War Betwixt Englishmen'; 'Argentina against Brazil in the River Plate 1825-30'; and 'A Frigate of King George: Life and Duty on a British Man-of-War'. He lives in London.
