Keeping the Faith Zusammenfassung

Keeping the Faith: Church of Rome or Church of Christ? Tony Fr. Flannery

Has the institution become more important than the message? From the author of From the Inside comes Keeping the Faith, a candid and fresh assessment of where the Church is going wrong, written by a man who has devoted his life to serving it. The issues focused on in the book include the following: A.The misuse and abuse of authority by the Church down through the centuries; how this happened, and what structural and systemic change is needed to overcome it. B. Two problematic doctrines that are part of Church teaching: Infallibility and the Virgin Birth. Flannery questions both the meaning and the use made of both. C. Opening up the Church to all believers, including women. D. Abolishing compulsory celibacy for priests.

Über Tony Fr. Flannery

Tony Flannery was born in 1947 in a small farm near Athenry in Co. Galway. He joined the Redemptorists in 1964 at the age of seventeen and was ordained ten years later, having studied in Galway and Dublin and spent two years teaching in Limerick. For the past thirty years he has been a preacher of missions, novenas and retreats all over Ireland. Previous books include: From the Inside and For Love or Money. Flannery is well known in the Irish Church, being regarded as something of a spokesperson for the liberal view, and something of a bete noire by the conservatives.
