Follows the 18th-century lives and fortunes of the four spirited daughters of the second Duke and Duchess of Richmond, whose homes were at Goodwood, near Surrey and Richmond House in Whitehall. The author has used the sisters' own voices (through their letters) to offer insight into their lives.
