The Linnet Bird Zusammenfassung

The Linnet Bird Linda Holeman

Born into direst poverty in 1820s Liverpool, Linny Gow escapes the life of prostitution her stepfather has forced her into, learns how to be a young lady, and flees to India, where the British Raj is in its infancy. There she finds heartache and suffering, but also true love and -perhaps most important of all - freedom. A hugely compelling novel which heralds an exciting new talent in women's fiction, The Linnet Bird is a once-in-a-lifetime read.

The Linnet Bird Bewertungen

Compulsive reading (The Linnet Bird) succeeds in being more than just a historical saga; it is a rites-of-passage tale with a very convincing and resourceful heroine - The Lady

A deliciously passionate adventure, with a richly descriptive and mesmerising prose style Sometimes disturbing, but always enthralling - Lancashire Evening Post

A sweeping, unputdownable saga (think The Thorn Birds and Gone with the Wind) that you ll want to tell all your friends about - Woman

A superb read in every way, epic, moving and unpredictable. I couldn t put The Linnet Bird down until I d finished it - Lesley Pearse

Absorbing a rich, atmospheric novel that has all the hallmarks of a mini-classic - Sunderland Echo
