I Am A Diplodocus Zusammenfassung

I Am A Diplodocus Karen Wallace

Award-winning author and illustrator (THINK OF AN EEL) show the world of Diplodocus through the eyes of one individual. See her foraging for food in the river and forest; watch as an Allosaurus attacks her and her herd come to her aid; and see her laying eggs as she walks.

Richly illustrated, this simple narrative is compellingly told and will leave every reader with a vivid image of this most fascinating of dinosaurs and the world it inhabited.

I Am A Diplodocus Bewertungen

Still remembering her splendid THINK OF AN EEL, I've been hoping for some more Karen Wallace to read and, 'Whoopee', here we are. I'm not much of a one for dinosaurs but [this book is] a delight. ... And then there's Wallace's masterly way with words. Pared to a minimum with no syllable wasted, [her] texts are comparable with Mayne or Morpurgo - they could happily join an anthology of verse or be set to music... Books like these pave the way for an absorbing interest in fossils and the prehistory pantheon... Absolutely great! And, oh yes, fine pictures from Mike Bostock. For anyone from 3 to 10. * Books for Keeps *
I really enjoyed reading .. the pictures are really bright and colourful. I am 6 and I enjoyed the story ... the words were really clear to read and the writing was a bit wiggly which was fun to look at. * KidAround *

Praise for I AM A TYRANNOSAURUS and I AM AN ANKYLOSAURUS:

'The texts are deceptively simple but complement the stunning illustrations ... telling a compelling story through words and image.'

* Books for Keeps *
This charming and colourful book lets children imagine the world of a young dinosaur as she searches for food and fights off an angry allosaurus. * Reading Evening Post *
LOOK through my eyes and see what I see....explore the world of the dinosaurs through this beautifully illustrated picture book. The simple narrative is compellingly told and leaving vivid images of the foraging diplodocus. Encourages children to take an interest in pre-history. * What's On *
Fascinating insights into the lives of dinosaurs... The books have lovely illustrations, so you can see the creatures going about their daily lives. They will appeal to children of all ages who are into the great pre-hisotric beasts. * This is Kids Stuff *
This beautifully illustrated picture book... Compellingly told ... vivid images * Bournemouth Daily Echo *
Text and pictures complement each other perfectly in these two stunningly llustrated books. They are violent but no doubt true to life at the time. * Carousel *

Über Karen Wallace

A Canadian, Karen Wallace gained a degree in English from London University. Shortly afterwards she and her husband went to Toronto and worked in the publishing business. A few years later they moved to Ireland with their two young sons, and returned to England in 1982. She now writes full-time for children and for children's television. She and illustrator Mike Bostock won the TES Information Book Award for THINK OF AN EEL (Walker Books). Her novel RASPBERRIES ON THE YANGTSE was short-listed for the Guardian Award. She is married to novelist Sam Llewellyn. Mike Bostock was born in Bristol, England and studied Illustration at Bath Academy of Art between 1980-84. On graduating he worked as an editorial illustrator and also for a wide variety of design and advertising clients. His first commision to illustrate a picture book for children was THINK OF AN EEL written by Karen Wallace in 1993. This book won several awards among them the Kurt Maschler Award and the Times Education Supplement Junior Information Book Award and since then he has illustrated many picture books including IMAGINE YOU ARE A CROCODILE (1996) and IMAGINE YOU ARE A DOLPHIN (1997) for Hodder. He enjoys researching his subjects, and in particular, the opportunity drawing offers to understand, and simplify a subject and make it accessible and exciting to young readers. Drawing is exploration; it encourages you to see things with a fresh eye revealing aspects of the subject which excite you and fill you with enthusiasm to communicate and share this with the reader.
