First introduced into Britain in 1688, magnolias are today found in gardens and parks throughout the country, and flowers may be seen, depending on species and variety, over nine months of the year. Yet relatively little has been written about this genus of striking trees and shrubs. After a brief survey of the history of the magnolia, this book describes its cultivation and care in gardens today.
