Jill Dudley's third book Ye Gods! II follows on from her first Ye Gods! She continues her travels around Greece, visiting ancient pagan sanctuaries and early churches to discover how Christianity emerged from the old Olympian gods. She is again accompanied by Harry, her husband, who is often the star of the show as her somewhat reluctant travelling companion. As usual, he tends not to think too much about religion, preferring to take Christianity on trust. He is the perfect foil for Jill's curiosity as she searches for satisfactory answers to impossibly difficult questions.It is a light and entertaining read as well as being informative and thought-provoking.

Jill Dudley resumes her quirky pilgrimage to the roots of pagan and Christian legends in the sequel to her 2006 book, which was the first instalment of her explorations of Greece, past and present. When she first visited the country, she didn't realise how much it would captivate her. She became fascinated by how much of the pagan past was still around, and how Christianity, in taking over from the old Olympian gods, had absorbed so much from it. Again, somewhat bemused hubby Harry, who takes conventional religion on trust, is the foil for Jill's frank philosophising as they visit ancient temple sites, monasteries and early Byzantine churches by means of bus, taxi or ferryboat. Jill's piquant observations o the response to the religious impulse by both ancient and modern civilisations continue to stimulate and amuse. Western Daily Press - 2009
