This is a short, inexpensive guide to help people begin to explore personal prayer. It is ideal resource for new Christians and those 'graduating' from Alpha and Christianity Explored courses. Author of this title is National Prayer Director at the World Prayer Centre. It is published in a pair with "Bible Reading" - a guide for the beginner. It is first published as "Prayer for Amateurs" (Hodder, 2000), part of the "For Amateurs" series (Michael Green as series ed); now substantially revised and updated. It is suitable for: church leaders buying it for people 'graduating' from Alpha courses and enquiring about first steps of faith; friends buying it for seekers and new Christians Confirmation gift; and, those looking for a guide to beginning personal prayer.

From Magnet, Autumn 2009 Jane Holloway, the National Prayer Director at the World Prayer Centre in Birmingham, has written this helpful little book for anyone interested in prayer from the standpoint that the need for prayer has become much more important in many people's minds. She tries to answer all the questions that are asked about the nature of prayer, giving little manageable hints how to get started and she doesn't baulk at the tricky question of how God answers. I was encouraged by the breadth of experience of prayer that she included: solitary, in groups, silent, all day and others. I feel this would be good to have ready to give to any explorer of the faith and a good inspiration for the rest of us.
