Sixth century, Byzantium Empire. Corruption is rife and the country is in turmoil. Flavius Belisarius expects to join his father's cohort, as have his three brothers, to help protect the eastern border. Flavius's father Decimus, the Governor of Dorostorum city, needs help to keep out the barbarians and to expose the deep roots of secular corruption.
