Nine-year-old Max sneaks into the loft one day and comes across a picture of a dragon and a castle with a girl in a distant tower. Max hides the picture under his bed and dreams that he is the hero, Maximilliun, battling against the ferocious dragon Dakas to save the girl in the tower, whom he believes to be a damsel in distress.
