An anthology of 17th-century mystical writing in the Anglican tradition. Focusing on five writers, this book introduces us to their lives, the places that they are associated with and their writing. He is also concerned that their writings should not simply be read as history, but helps us link them to our contemporary situation by offering details of societies devoted to particular writers or sites connected with their lives which can be visited. He also offers a comprehensive introduction to the nature of the period and how the writings have influenced modern writers.
