In this volume, a child psychiatrist and a paediatrician, both with wide clinical and research experience, present a current view of somatization disorders in children and how a multi-factorial approach is essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Following this analysis, emphasis is placed on inter-disciplinary teamwork, and it is hoped that physicians, nurses, psychologists and other professionals who deal with families in which a child has a somatic complaint will benefit from this book. This series is intended to fill the perceived gap in texts on family psychology - still not a major part of the undergraduate curriculum - by pulling together material from research and clinical studies which is scattered amongst various journals. The inter-disciplinary approach will be maintained throughout the series.
