Michael grew up in a poor-family in a relatively poor but socially coherent village community set in the heart of agricultural Suffolk He trained as an architect and later taught architectural- and building conservation students at university in Yorkshire and landscape management at a higher-educational college in North Yorkshire.Michael's s wife Lynne has a nursing and medical research and teaching background and together they founded, and are Trustees of a registered charity focusing on supporting families caring at home for relatives who have an acquired or inherited brain injury.
