Mrs Gray, an attic mouse, trains her sons to launch guerrilla attacks on the farm cat, with the help of Wallace, a cellarmouse. Social barriers among the mice are broken down as they fight a common enemy. They even set up a "noseball league" - using the bad-tempered farmer's glass eye for a ball.
