Schweppes Photographic Portrait Prize 2003: Including the Deloitte & Touche Award by Sandy (Foreword) Nairne
The Schweppes Photographic Portrait Prize continues the ten-year tradition of the John Kobal Photographic Portrait Award, which came to an end in 2002. Firmly establishing itself as a leading showcase for new talent from the world in photographic portraiture, this exciting competition provides an important platform for photographers of all ages, including students, talented amateurs and professionals. All photographers are eligible for the main prize of #15,000, while younger photographers, aged 25 or under, can also compete for an additional #5000 Deloitte & Touche Award for best portrait. The accompanying catalogue offers a unique opportunity to view the portrait photographers of tomorrow and to bring their work to a wider audience. Fully illustrated in colour throughout, the book features all the selected entries from 2003's competition, including the two prizewinners. Among the judges were Alison Jackson, Sandy Nairne, Ekow Eshun, Amanda Hopkinson, Mary McCartney Donald and Terence Pepper.
