Green London Summary

Green London: A Handbook by Roy Hawkins

This book is about places in the capital where people and plants meet. It is not a book about practical gardening, neither is it a specialized guide to things horticultural. The aim of the book is to make people aware of plants in London and to show them how to benefit from them. It describes not only the royal parks but also public gardens, squares, landscaped open spaces, roof gardens, heaths and commonland and flower shows and markets. A section of the book provides information on opening times and access and an additional chapter highlights places accessible to the physically handicapped, while another looks at the aspects children will most enjoy. Roy Hawkins has been working in horticulture for the past ten years and contributes articles to "Gardener's Chronicle and Horticultural Trade Journal".
