This Is Me, Eating! Reviews

This is a deliciously upbeat addition to the `first experiences' series of board books. . . Just half a dozen spreads but so much to relish both visually and verbally; altogether a tasty treat for the very youngest. In addition, with its patterned text and illustrations that are closely matched with the large print sentences, young beginning readers might well whet their palates on this one * Red Riding Hub *
Babies love books and babies love eating, so a book about eating is bound to be a hit with the toddler brigade. This book comes to life the moment you pick it up and feel like someone is watching you. As the cover baby's eyes roll ominously from side to side you feel a frisson of excitement. What more fun is hidden within the pages? . . . a nice, sturdy board book that they can chew on, until they read it and realise food is much tastier! Recommended. * The Book Bag *

About Neal Layton

While Neal was growing up, he spent much of his time playing in the dirt, making homemade catapults and drawing pictures. He studied BA Graphic Design at Newcastle and MA Illustration at Central Saint Martins. His studio is a room in his house where he can make a mess. The walls are covered with pictures, drawings, scribbles, badges, photos, posters, packaging and anything else that he finds inspiring. He uses all sorts of different media to make his illustrations: pencils, paint, pens, ink, pieces of collage, biros, photocopiers, cameras, a computer, bits of stick, old toothbrushes, dough, hair, leaves, anything that comes to hand... He likes his illustrations to appear as fresh and spontaneous as possible. He lives in Portsmouth with his family. Betsy Layton (aged eighteen months) advised Neal on all aspects of this book.
