The papers have been gathered from a variety of sources and include some previously unpublished pieces (eg The White Bird). John Berger is an influential art critic and cultural historian, well-known for his TV series and book Ways of Seeing. He won the 1972 Booker Prize for his novel G. He has also written Pig Earth, a collection of short stories, poems and sketches about life in a French peasant community.
