About Jean de Brunhoff

Jean de Brunhoff was born in Paris in 1899. His wife used to tell stories about elephants to their children but it was Jean who wrote and illustrated the Babar stories in book form that are known and loved around the world. He died tragically young of tuberculosis in 1937.
