It's Up to Us Summary

It's Up to Us: A Children's Terra Carta for Nature, People and Planet by His Majesty King Charles III

'Children have a unique curiosity for Nature and for this amazing planet we call home.' So writes His Majesty King Charles III in his introduction to It's Up to Us: A Children's Terra Carta for Nature, People and Planet. Join His Majesty, author Christopher Lloyd and 33 amazing award-winning artists from around the world on a beautiful, lyrical and thought-provoking voyage through Nature, the threats we face and an action plan for the future. It's Up to Us is based on the Terra Carta, a roadmap to sustainability issued by His Majesty King Charles III and his Sustainable Markets Initiative. More than 400 corporations have already signed on, agreeing to put the health of Nature, People & Planet at the heart of their activities. Now it's up to all of us to make sure our leaders keep their promises. This book has been developed in partnership with The Prince's Foundation, a charity established by His Majesty to demonstrate how Nature can be put at the heart of human activities. Half of all the proceeds from sales will go directly to the work of the charity, based at Dumfries House in Scotland. Printed in the UK on recycled FSC paper with vegetable inks, and all the carbon impacts of the production have been offset through The World Land Trust and other programmes to reduce carbon emissions around the world.

It's Up to Us Reviews

This is a timely and important book that both celebrates the natural world and helps young readers imagine a brighter future and a better world. -- Christopher Edge, author of 'The Jamie Drake Equation' A triumph, both in terms of the poetically rendered text, and the emotional impact of the hugely contrasting illustration styles on display. -- Caroline Sanderson * The Bookseller * This is a beautiful, poignant and important book at what feels like a crucial moment in history. * BookTrust * It's Up to Us is entirely focused on climate change and the most pressing environmental issues currently experienced by the Earth. -- Alice Scarsi * Daily Express * I read it to my six year old son and we both loved it.... perfectly put together. Such stunning art work, and I especially liked that it captured how a sense of common endeavour and love for the natural world may yet be the thing that saves us from the worst. -- Joss Garman * European Climate Foundation * It's Up to Us is adorned with drawings by 33 illustrators from a plethora of national and cultural backgrounds ... One of the book's greatest strengths is how it deviates from the typical individualistic eco-friendly actions for children. -- Catrin Osbourne * Varsity * Rather than inciting polarity, It's Up to Us aims to form cross-cultural and transgenerational bonds ... Although it is child-centred, It's Up to Us will inspire all parents, teachers, or any other adult that delves through its pages. -- Catrin Osbourne * Varsity *
