Hortus Revisited Reviews

It must have been quite a task for Mr Wheeler to select highlights from those 21 years, in a journal where the standards have been consistently high. The selection is, however, sparkling...we must hope for another charming volume when Hortus reaches its quarter-century. Country Life A box of delicious literary chocolates to hoard for a rainy afternoon. Garden Highlights from this treasure trove of hugely entertaining, occasionally eccentric, always erudite garden writing. Observer David Wheeler's twenty-first birthday Hortus is a consistent delight: a happy selection of well-written, and beautifully illustrated and printed essays...This has to be one of the best presents ever for a gardener. Museum of Garden History magazine This is a book to dip into, to keep by the bedside, or to while away time while waiting for an appointment, and I can thoroughly recommend it. Cornwall Gardens Trust Journal This book proves that if gardening is an art, then so is writing about it. Irish Examiner
