I was struck by Anne Wilson's stunning illustrations, so vibrant with colour that we could be out there in nature and not looking at them on the pages of the book, the colour evoking worlds that we often don't see, the worlds of night and the senses animals employ. Then I was drawn to Catherine Barr's words, explain to me the way in which animals make use of the hidden sense to navigate a complex world... There is so much fascinating information and detail in this book that I have only touched the surface and I urge you to find a copy and learn more too.

..a joyous book: the illustrations splash from the page in a brilliant array of colours, detail and textures; the text, confident and passionate; the intent, urgent and inspiring... this is the book I would choose if working in Lower Key Stage 2 and teaching young people about the vital importance of water. No-fuss, brightly colourful and engagingly authoritative, it is a gem of recent nonfiction for children.
