#1 New Release in Demography

Discover the revolutionary power of millennials

Millennials were set up. Everyone reads the headlines. Here's a headline people need to read: Millennials were set up! Millennials aren't buying diamonds or saving for retirement. Millennials want cushy jobs handed to them by organizations with futuristic nap pods. The truth is, millennials were raised being told they could do anything if they worked hard, and then they worked hard only to be told the world owes them nothing.

Social media and social awareness. The older generations begrudge so-called dependence on technology and social media, but this connection allows millennials to join together and adapt to new challenges faster than ever before. It allows people to plan massive socio-political movements at the drop of a hat, learn about new concepts and cultures, and understand more about ourselves and each other. Social media has spread the word about recognizing emotional abuse and its effects on mental health and behavior, inspiring younger generations to take back agency and power.

Millennials rising and revolting. The tide of young adults standing up for themselves is culminating in massive societal change. The Gaslighting of the Millennial Generation uncovers the misconceptions about millennials, examining not only their unique strengths but also the baggage they have inherited from Baby Boomers. It shows just how different millennials are from previous generations.

Readers of The Next America by Paul Taylor, Generation Me by Jean M. Twenge, The Fourth Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe will love The Gaslighting of the Millennial Generation.

The Gaslighting of the Millennial Generation Reviews

The Gaslighting of the Millennial Generation systematically debunks most of the media's oversimplifying claims about our generation. Caroline Beaton, Journalist for Forbes, Psychology Today, and The Huffington Post

This is a must-read for anyone who wants a better understanding of the betrayal of a generation told they could be anything if they worked hard, only to be mocked and shamed as the American Dream slips further from their grasp. It's time to listen, rather than blame the messengers. Melanie Childers, Master Certified Confidence Coach

So often, media outlets throw my generation in my face as the ruiners of life, which makes Caitlin Fisher's book necessary, among other things. Her musings are relatable, her writing style is hilarious, and her unwavering support of millennials makes me proud to be one. Kudos to her for offering up her personal insights as a connector for so many of us. Nina Rossi, Founder, Bright Thoughts

A true millennial, Fisher built an accidentally viral blog post into a full-length book packed with humor, insight, and call-outs. The artful way she weaves personal anecdotes into data analysis gives the reader a true glance into why so many millennials are 'killing' society as we know it. Jess Reed, Teacher

About Caitlin Fisher

Caitlin Fisher is a sharp-tongued blogger who shares her thoughts on lifestyle, trauma, mental health, and social causes on her blog Born Again Minimalist. Caitlin Fisher wrote her first book when she was six, a self-illustrated autobiography in pencil and crayon. She never expected to publish a real book, but her life has always brought her back to the written word no matter what her professional position. As an undergraduate student she wrote for the school newspaper and relished in research papers for psychology courses, and with a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration she planned to become a professional career counselor for students, assisting with cover letters and resumes. With fifty thousand dollars in student loan debt and zero job prospects, she temped at a real estate office in her hometown before landing a full time position as a specialty chemical purchaser, which had nothing at all to do with her educational background. After nearly four years building a freelance copywriting business, she made the leap into full-time marketing copywriting and is now a marketing content manager.
