Recraft Summary

Recraft by Buttonbag

ReCraft includes 50 projects to give old things a new lease of life. ReCraftis a way of recycling things you might otherwise throw away - or things other people have given away. ReCraft means asking, What can I turn this into? rather than, What do I need to make this? - it is colours / textures and materials that trigger the designs and your own creativity. Using your hands and imagination ReCraft transforms the most uninspiring objects such as holey jumpers, old shirts, dusty books, chipped cups, battered spoons, floral curtains, scratched records and broken games into soft toys, candles, secret boxes, precious jewels, cushions and bags. ReCraft is about allowing your second-hand finds inspire you; letting shape, colour and texture spark for a 'ReCrafted' transformation. Fifty projects for a range of items including items for the home, clothes and accessories for all ages plus patterns, templates and basic techniques. Illustrated with photographs and hand-painted illustrations, the emphasis is on simple, easy-to-make items with a twist.

Pretty Nostalgic 'The brains behind craft brand Buttonbag are aiming to 'jumpstart creativity' with their fab debut book' CrossStitcher 'Filled with 50 refreshingly different and easy-to-follow projects, each with a quirky twist' Period Living 'Takes second-hand objects (everything from men's shirts to scrabble pieces) and gives them a new life' The Independent 'This is an excellent book full of ideas for things to make from 'stuff' you have hanging around the house...it's evident there's plenty of fun and creativity to be had from junk.' About Buttonbag

BUTTONBAG is a young innovative company breathing new life into old crafts by updating them in a fresh, contemporary way. Since founding the company in 2005, SARA DUCHARS and SARAH MARKS have graduated from a stall at London's Greenwich market to a network of more than 200 stockists across the country including John Lewis, Liberty's of London and Oxfam, and in 2010 they sold over 50,000 kits. Following a degree in English and Art NICOLA KENT sold handmade greetings cards before getting sidetracked into a successful career as a TV producer. She went on to produce a wide range of programmes for the BBC and Channel 4, and also wrote for top-rating children's animation The Cramp Twins. Since having children Nicola has focused on writing and illustrating. Recent work includes labels for Buttonbag's exclusive Christmas range for John Lewis as well as working on a number of her own stories for young children.
