Kate Ellis was born and brought up in Liverpool and studied drama in Manchester. Keenly interested in medieval history and archaeology, she is married with two sons and lives in Cheshire. She is the author of twelve Wesley Peterson crime novels set in Devon. The Merchant's House, the Armada Boy, An Unhallowed Grave, The Funeral Boat, The Bone Garden, A Painted Doom, The Skeleton Room, The Plague Maiden, A Cursed Inheritance, The Marriage Hearse, The Shining Skull and The Blood Pit are also published by Piatkus. Kate Ellis has twice been nominated for the Crime Writers' Association Short Story Dagger and the novel The Plague Maiden was nominated for the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year in 2005.
