Books by Janet Evans

Janet Evans, a five-time Olympic medallist and one of the most successful female swimmers of all time, is arguably the best in U.S. history. By age 11 she was setting national age group records and in 1987 she set world records in the 400, 800, and 1,500 metre freestyle events. At the 1988 Olympics, her first, she won three golds in the above events just before her 17th birthday and became the media darling of the Games. She swam to gold again in the 1992 Olympics in the 800m free, having dominated the event since Seoul and took silver in the 400m freestyle. Her Olympic career ended in 1996 where, although she did not medal, she was honoured with the prestigious task of handing the Olympic torch to Muhammad Ali, who lit the cauldron.
