Books by Anne Scott-James

Sir Osbert Lancaster (1908-86) was the only cartoonist ever to be knighted. He produced several books on architecture, including Homes, Sweet Homes (1939), in which he coined the phrase 'stockbroker Tudor'. From 1939 onwards he produced cartoons for the Daily Express, using his character Maudie Littlehampton to satirize upper-class preoccupations. Anne Scott-James is the author of a string of successful books including the gardening classics Down to Earth, Sissinghurst and Gardening Letters to My Daughter.
