This work assembles 107 images from distinguished photographers, reflecting the second half of the 20th century. Photographs featured include the innocent optimism of childhood, and hope as a great motivator, from the cosmic, in an image of Apollo II blasting into space, to the individual, as a Mexican family gazes across the border as they await an opportunity to run to California. The book also shows a family gathering their personal belongings after a flood, as well as hope in our biological essence with the photograph of a sperm meeting an egg.
