The text and illustrations place fashion in the context of contemporary culture, international events and the relentless pace of social change. The first section provides an overview of the decade, examining fashion developments in the light of trends in the arts, technology, politics and living patterns. The second section is divided into eight four-page sections highlighting individual themes.
