Beauchamps tells the story of a Victorian family and their Worcestershire farm near Alvechurch. All of the characters and events are based on real people and happenings and the inspiration for the book has come from family journals and diaries. Beauchamps is in fact Seechem Manor, Rowney Green, which is fully described in an appendix.
