Crochet is the craze of the moment and this book explains very clearly all the stitches you will ever need. The step-by-step photos are wonderfully clear and you are given a close-up pic of how the stitch looks in a block...Most of the projects are a little on the twee side but there is an attractive Arran-style coat and some scarves that might appeal. Embroiderers will enjoy the section on working motifs and will easily see how to incorporate these into their work by machining into them.

[Pauline] has written many books on the subject of crochet and this is another good one to add to her list. The instructions are clear and well photographed with a wide variety of items to make. I particularly like the full length coat in Aran-style and the pretty baby cover. The book allows you to build up your skills as you progress through the patterns and the techniques section is very comprehensive and shows you how to use all types of yarn from chunky through to the finest cotton. I really must learn to crochet!

Fully illustrated with very clear coloured photographs of every stitch and the finished item...The reader gets instruction right from the very beginning, step-by-step. There is information and guidance on the materials of crochet: the hooks and the yarns. I would recommend this book to a starter or an improver, child or adult...This is the most attractively and clearly presented book of its type that I have seen.
